ISLAMABAD –TheNational Assembly Tuesday offered prayers (Fateha) for the victims of toxic sweets in Layyah where 31 people have lost their lives.
SahibzadaFaizul Hassan said that people lost their lives due to eating toxic sweets in Layyah.He requested the chair to offer prayers for the departed souls. Later, he offered the Fateha on the request of National Assembly Speaker AyazSadiq.
Responding a point of order, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said on the directive of the prime minister,the package has been revised to compensate the families of government employees who died during service.
Hesaid that compensation for the families ranging from grade one to 11 has been increased three to five lac rupees and contract based jobs were being given to their relatives to ease their lives.He said that the victim families were being given salaries till the age of employees’ retirement besides providing free education and health facilities to their children.
– FATA reforms soon–
Speaking on a point of order,Minister for States and Frontier RegionsAbdul QadirBaloch said that the whole nation acknowledged sacrifices rendered by the people of tribal areas for Pakistan.Hesaid that the FATA reforms would be introduced as soon as possible.
He also said that the issue of up gradation of teachers in FATA would be resolved on priority basis. He said that people of FATA had always played a role of soldiers for the country, adding that people of FATA had created history in 1948 by sacrificing their lives for Pakistan.
Pakistan never needed to deploy forces on its western borders as people of FATA defended it during two wars with India, he said. A former dictator invited an alien war in 2007 and FATA people again rendered sacrifices and left their homes, he added. He also informed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had formally given approval for the up gradation of FATA teachers, he said.
– Tworesolutions unanimously adopted –
The National Assembly unanimously adopted two resolutions by two private members,which said that the government should take steps to ensure observance of appointment quota for Balochistan in federal departments and to ensure the use of quality paper for printing of the Holy Quran.
NaeemaHafeezPanezai and NaeemaKishwer Khan moved the resolutions respectively in the House.The speaker put the resolutions for votes after not being opposed by the treasury benches. Asmany as six reports of the standing committees on cabinet secretariat and interior and narcotics control were present in the House.
Standing Committee on Cabinet Chairman Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan and Javed Ali Shah on behalf of the Standing Committee on Interior chairman presented the reports.The speaker also referred the amendments proposed in the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business by NaeemaKishwer Khan and others to the committee concerned for deliberation.
They sought amendment in the rule 122 of the Rules of Procedure under which the committee would be bound to give its report on any bill referred to it within six months.
– Conspiracy against democracy –
Talking to a private news channel,Abdul QadirBaloch said that the government would not tolerate any conspiracy against the democracy particularly in the name of accountability. He said that the opposition partiesshould make demands which fall within the parameters of democratic traditions.
“We think that talks should also be held with the opposition on theissue of TORs of the commission,” he said. “We want that all cases including written off loans should beinvestigated. The prime minister has already presented himself for accountability. But the opposition is only targeting him (prime minister),”he said.
