LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has denied the perceptions about the possibility of holding early elections saying “the government will complete its tenure”.
“The elections will be held on time,” said PM Abbasi on Thursday.
The statement came a day after National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said he did not feel that the National Assembly (NA) would complete its tenure.

PM Abbasi dubbed the Ayaz Sadiq’s statement as “his personal view”, adding that Sadiq was an independent person as the speaker of the NA.
“The speaker’s concerns were in reference to the events of the last two or three months,” he said and added that the statement was being taken “out of the context”.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan had demanded the early elections as, he said, the incumbent government had failed to fulfill its duties.
However, the PM Abbasi has reiterated the government stance of holding the general election on time.
