GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that his party will not allow rulers to appoint members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of their own choice.
The parliamentary committee appointing ECP members should include representatives of all parties, he said while talking to party leaders, prominent personalities and media representatives who had come to wish him Eid greetings at his residence
Shujaat, who has also served as prime minister, said that the incumbent government was using every tactic to get rid of Panama issue. He said that entire attention of opposition would be on Panama leaks after Eid holidays.
Criticising the Punjab government, he said that instead of collecting funds in the name of welfare works through DCOs and DOPs, the Punjab rulers should reform health sector as people could not get free medicines and diagnostic tests in government hospitals of Punjab.
He said that government’s apathy towards problems of common man could be gauged from the way elderly pensioners were treated on Eid.
Referring to suicide blasts and terrorist activities in Saudi Arabia, Shujaat said that Muslims should unite against enemies of Islam and Pakistan. He said that Muslim Ummah should jointly tackle scourge of terrorism.
